Kaolack, January 14 (APS) – The heads of the regional services of Kaolack (center) reiterated, Tuesday, their commitments to do everything possible to ensure a good organization of the 113th edition of the annual Ziara of Léona Niassene, scheduled for 1st next February.
They reaffirmed their commitments during a meeting of the regional development committee (CRD) held at the conference room of the great mosque of Léona Niassene. The meeting was chaired by Governor Mohamadou Moctar Watt, in the presence of the spokesperson for the religious city and members of the event organizing committee.
”We listened attentively to the expectations and grievances expressed by the members of the organizing committee and a certain number of assurances were given to them in the sense of the success of this extremely important event,” underlined the governor from Kaolack.
From a security point of view, he said, all efforts will be undertaken by the central commissioner, Souleymane Ba, in conjunction with the commander of the operational group of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI) of Kaolack. They must allow all measures to be implemented to ensure proper security of the event.
”Security will be further strengthened within the limits of the commune of Kaolack. Beyond that, in terms of road safety, there will be the involvement of the Gendarmerie, because all the roads leading to the commune of Kaolack will also be marked out by elements of the Gendarmerie,” assured Mohamadou Moctar Watt.
Participants in this meeting also discussed aspects related to health and relief. Concerning these two questions, assurances have been given, in particular by the regional health directorate, which will implement all appropriate measures to set up four advanced medical posts (PMA).
The envelope of two million CFA francs released for the purchase of medicines was deemed “insufficient” by the members of the organizing committee who want it to be increased.
”For this year, we will send a correspondence to the ministerial authority so that there is an upward revision of this allocation,” promised the head of the regional executive.
He notes that the only concern that has been expressed concerns the water supply in the Léona Niassene district.
This is, according to the governor, a “fairly serious” problem linked to the loss of a borehole. According to him, the quality of the water, which was very salty, had taken a “heavy blow”.
This is why Sen’Eau has decided to review its distribution plan so that, a few days before the start of the event, most of the production is directed to Léona Niassène and its surroundings, in order to satisfy demand. ‘huge need’ for water from this ziara.
”We are hopeful that things will unfold as we expect them and that there will be no particular difficulties in the success of this ziara,” he said.
The administrative authority reassured the members of the organizing committee about the procedures to be implemented by 1is February, so that any shortcomings can be corrected.
The spokesperson for Léona Niassene, Serigne Cheikh Ahmed Babacar Niass, on behalf of the Caliph, Serigne Cheikh Ahmad Tidiane Khalifa, welcomed the “participative approach” of Governor Mohamadou Moctar Watt for the “good performance” of this meeting preparatory.
”We are reassured by the commitments made on both sides for the success of this event of international dimension. There is hope that it will go well. We call for the unity of the Senegalese people and invite the new authorities to take into account the hopes placed in them,” he said.
