two minors arrested in Lannion, the RAID mobilized

The investigation into the car fires which marked New Year's Eve in Lannion (Côtes-d'Armor) is taking a new turn. Two minors were arrested in the Fontaines district, but for facts separate from these fires. The intervention required the deployment of fifteen RAID police officers, highlighting the seriousness of the alleged acts and the tense situation in this sector.

A New Year marked by violence

On New Year's Eve, the Fontaines and Ker-Uhel districts of Lannion were the scene of arson attacks, with twelve cars reduced to ashes. These events triggered an in-depth investigation carried out by the judicial police at the Lannion police station.

On January 8, a first minor suspect, resident of the Fontaines district, was arrested. Although he denied any direct involvement in the fires or a filmed scene of violence found on his phone, he admitted other crimes, including the theft of a bicycle and the fraudulent use of a bank card.

A RAID intervention and disturbing discoveries

A second individual, also a minor and linked to the investigations, was identified. Suspected of possessing weapons visible in photos found during searches, he was arrested on January 9 in the early morning thanks to a RAID operation.

Although no weapon was found at his home, the search revealed several hundred ammunition, grams of narcotics (cannabis resin, cocaine), a precision scale, several hundred euros in cash and a list accounts linked to drug trafficking.

The suspect denied any possession of the photographed weapons, attributing the ammunition to his deceased grandfather. However, he admitted to having participated in drug trafficking during the summer of 2024 and to possessing a pistol.

Strict judicial control measures

The two minors were presented to the prosecution on January 10, then to the juvenile judge. They will be tried later, but have already been placed under judicial supervision.

  • The first suspect must leave Lannion to return to his father's home in another department. He is prohibited from returning to the town, from communicating with other individuals involved in the case, and from going out between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. He is also forced to undergo training and treatment.
  • The second minor was sent to a reinforced educational center for a break-up stay, with a ban on carrying a weapon, communicating with his alleged accomplice and going out between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Despite these arrests, the investigation into the car fires continues. Law enforcement remains mobilized to identify possible other perpetrators. At the same time, local authorities and residents of affected neighborhoods are calling for reinforced measures to restore security.
