This Tuesday, three women who were cycling in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) were hit by a vehicle.
One of them was slightly injured, another seriously, the third has a life-threatening prognosis.
The person driving fled before being arrested.
Weapons were found in his vehicle.
It was around 8:30 a.m. when the collision took place on rue Alsace-Lorraine in Rouen (Seine-Maritime). This Tuesday morning, three women who were riding their bikes were hit by a vehicle. Instead of stopping, the person driving continued and fled out of the town.
“One of the victims is slightly injured, another is seriously injured, but with no life-threatening prognosis, a third is in intensive care with a life-threatening prognosis”details the public prosecutor, Sébastien Gallois, without specifying at this stage the age of the victims. The three victims were transported to Rouen University Hospital.
Driver arrested, weapons found in her vehicle
The police, including the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), went looking for the vehicle involved and the person who was behind the wheel. “The driver, born in 1977, was arrested in Buchy by the gendarmerie and placed in police custody. Witnesses reported possible suicidal intentions”adds the magistrate. According to a source close to the case, weapons were found in his vehicle.
The Rouen public prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation, traveled to the scene of the events. The Rouen judicial police are responsible for the investigations. The prosecutor will make a new communication at the end of the day on this case.
