It is with serenity and optimism for his city that François Chéneau, mayor of Donges (-Atlantique) approaches this year 2025. Enough to see the future more calmly. And Invest. “Each year, we had to repay 1 million euros, which reduced our borrowing capacity. We will now be able to borrow more without risk,” remarks the mayor. Even if the national context calls for caution, the municipality of Donges continues its momentum with the start of work in the city center, but also in the villages.

“The town hall square project reduced to what is strictly necessary”

The town hall square project will be presented at the next municipal council on February 27. The City launched a consultation at the start of the 2024 school year by presenting a complete requalification of Place Armand-Morvan.

The budget was €700,000. Faced with numerous criticisms, the City backpedaled. “We have reduced the work to what is strictly necessary,” says the mayor. The bill now only amounts to €150,000.

The City will take advantage of the installation of geothermal energy at the city hall to replace the ground in the square, which is currently “very mineral”.

The space will be vegetated.
