BeIN Sports has reached an agreement with the LFP for the broadcast of Ligue 1

After months of negotiations, BeIN Sports announced that it had resolved the last outstanding points with LFP Media concerning the broadcasting rights of Ligue 1. The sports channel, which has broadcast one match per day since the start of the season, claimed numerous adjustments, including the possibility of sharing the broadcast of this match with another paying actor. A request which had sparked debate, with the LFP recalling that the initial call for tenders limited the number of broadcasters to preserve the readability of the offer. In a press release, beIN Sports confirmed the agreement and reaffirmed its support for French football: “BeIN Sports is pleased to have resolved outstanding negotiation points with LFP Media regarding the Ligue 1 McDonald's media rights in , for which beIN has made a significant financial commitment – despite limited offers – for one match per week“. According to the group, all amounts still owed have been paid (i.e. €80 million fully paid by the Qatari channel, Editor’s note). As for the amount of 20 million euros linked to sponsorship, a spokesperson for the channel explains: “Regarding beIN's solution to generate additional revenue for clubs through sponsorship, all clubs wishing to sell their unsold sponsorship stocks now benefit from assistance in finding solutions directly with representatives of interested commercial partners».

The group also recalls that the offer beIN SPORTS recorded very good scores with French football this year, notably “a historic audience record for the Coupe de France on its broadcasts, with the Saint-Germain match in the 32nd finals bringing together an average of 899,000 viewers, with a peak audience of up to 1,150,000 viewers“. Premium Ligue 1 McDonald's matches also performed well in December on these channels with an average of “651,000 viewers for - and 582,000 viewers for Monaco-Paris Saint-Germain“. These two matches are also among the Ligue 1 matches which have attracted the most audiences since the start of the season, “alongside Paris Saint-Germain – Lens (711,000 viewers), Lens – Marseille (626,000 viewers) and -Marseille (625,000 viewers)».
