VIDEO. “I can’t wait to enjoy the fish and chips”: the hilarious Japanese ambassador to the United Kingdom noticed across the Channel

He intends to promote relations between Japan and the British… with humor. Hiroshi Suzuki, Japan's ambassador to the United Kingdom, sings the Welsh anthem wholeheartedly before heading there for a diplomatic visit.

These images, which you can see at the top of the article, were published in the British media which are interested in this quirky character. Onigiri or biscuits in hand, Hiroshi Suzuki does not hesitate to wet his jersey during a rugby match between his team and that of King Charles III. What attracted the attention of the media across the Channel was its contrast with the typical protocol of diplomacy.

The Japanese, originally from Kyoto, began his diplomatic career in the 1980s. London is not unfamiliar territory to him, since he was already sent there between 2011 and 2012. More recently, he was ambassador of the country of the Rising Sun to India and Bhutan.
