Confemen, in partnership with the Gates Foundation, is organizing a forum in Dakar from January 28 to 30, 2025, on improving primary school learning in Africa.
This event will bring together African decision-makers, education experts and technical partners to develop effective strategies in the face of alarming findings: only 11% of students master reading in 3rd grade, and 38% reach a minimum level in mathematics, according to the PASEC2019 assessment. .
Chaired by Ivorian Minister Mariatou Koné, this forum will bring together around a hundred participants from 21 countries, including Nigeria and Mozambique. It aims to learn lessons from successful initiatives in Africa and elsewhere, while supporting the PASEC2024 evaluation cycle.
Discussions will focus in particular on the state of learning, the effectiveness of reading and mathematics teaching, and the role of cognitive sciences in improving academic performance.
-This meeting will contribute to strengthening the capacities of African education systems, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
