The Senegalese Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, arrived this Sunday in Nouakchott for a three-day visit, aimed at strengthening economic and diplomatic cooperation between Mauritania and Senegal.

The Senegalese Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, arrived this Sunday evening in Nouakchott for a three-day working and friendship visit. He was welcomed at the international airport “ I am Tunisia by his Mauritanian counterpart, Mokhtar Ould Diay.

The welcome took place in the presence of several Mauritanian ministers, including the Minister Secretary General of the Government, Mokhtar Al-Husseinou Lam, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Abdullah Ould Boya , the Minister of the Interior, Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, and other government officials.

This visit comes in a context of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector. BP, together with its partners, recently launched a multi-million dollar social investment program in both countries, aimed at improving local quality of life and creating long-term growth opportunities. This program focuses on community health, economic development, environmental awareness and education.

An apprentice training program has also been established to prepare for future offshore operations, with 47 technicians currently in training.
