A call for witnesses has been launched to identify the man who attacked a jogger with a knife in the Vergèze park in the . According to a survey, more than 90% of women feel unsafe when they play sports outdoors.

The gendarmes comb the Vergèze park (Gard), Sunday January 12. The day before at 11 a.m., a 44-year-old woman was stabbed by a man while she was jogging. The suspect is still being sought. A few days earlier in (-Atlantique), a sportswoman escaped a man who was trying to rape her by biting him. In (), a few weeks earlier, another jogger was stabbed in the back.

The figures across the world are worrying: 43% of female joggers say they have been insulted or threatened, 30% have already been followed. According to Brice Larroque, national training delegate Alliance Police Nationale, the attackers “are encouraged by attacking someone who has no plans to defend themselves, who is supposedly more vulnerable than them”. Some implement a strategy: favor group outings, run “with a key in hand”or have a connected watch. Another possibility: get a sound alert or a defense pad with a tear gas bomb so that jogging remains a pleasure.
