the striking images of the devastating torrent of mud which crosses the villages of the south of the archipelago

A few weeks after being hit by Cyclone Chido which devastated Mayotte, the island is once again threatened by a tropical cyclone, called Dikeledi.

Mayotte once again hit by a violent cyclone. After Chido a few weeks ago, it is now Cyclone Dikeledi which threatens the island.

Liot MP from Mayotte, Estelle Youssouffa, expressed her concern this Sunday on X “for the sheet metal shanty towns” which are very vulnerable to landslides. Mahorais have also posted impressive videos on social networks of the torrents of mud which cross the villages located in the south of Mayotte.

As a reminder, the prefect of Mayotte explained this Sunday on Facebook that the red alert was still in force and that it would continue into the afternoon. He reported “heavy rain, gusts of wind and risk of marine submersion”.

If he indicated that “the few localized lulls are only temporary”, he deplored the persistence of “the danger for the population”, calling on the latter to “remain confined”.
