Hot air balloon enthusiasts will meet near Reconvilier. It was near the village hall that the 5th international gathering of remote-controlled hot air balloons in the Bernese Jura was held this year. The first four editions took place in Mont-Crosin. The organizers who are the owners of the Werdtberg in Reconvilier have therefore decided to move the event to this locality. A change which has made it possible to see bigger, but also which allows indoor activities. “Here you can blow up balloons all day long,” explains Felix Gerber, organizer of the gathering.
The crews present at the event mainly come from German-speaking Switzerland. However, one crew did not display the red flag with a white cross on their balloon. A Luxembourg balloonist traveled 400 kilometers to take part in the demonstration. The only one who moved. Other crews, German and Austrian, decided at the last minute not to come.
Note that for this 2025 edition, La Bise is playing tricks on the organizers. However, several activities and demonstrations planned outdoors were still able to take place, but for less time than planned. Despite the vagaries of the weather, Felix Gerber is happy with this edition. He is confident for 2026 and the organization of a 6th gathering. /sbo
