The Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar celebrated, this Saturday, January 11, the tenth anniversary of its first LMD class, called the “Mohamadou Makhtar Cissé class”. This event, reported by Sud Quotidien, was an opportunity to closely examine the theme of “Challenges and opportunities for the access of young graduates to legal professions”, a crucial question for the professional future of law students. of this institution.
Aware of the difficulties faced by new graduates in their integration into the job market, the Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé class highlighted these issues during this commemorative ceremony. Despite the reforms undertaken by the Senegalese government in the judicial sector, such as the recruitment of magistrates, lawyers, bailiffs and clerks, these measures are considered insufficient by some former members of the FSJP-UCAD.
As reported by Sud Quotidien, Babacar Sy Diagne, president of the promotion, underlined: “Today, in countries like France or the Ivory Coast, there are professions such as legal advice which are recognized. There is nothing stopping Senegal from creating this profession. » This proposal highlights the need to expand the professional opportunities available to law graduates in Senegal.
This meeting was also the moment for the promotion to pay tribute to the professors of the faculty who played a decisive role in their educational journey. Babacar Sy Diagne specified that this gesture aims to stimulate a dynamic of recognition and return to basics, saluting the efforts of teachers and their significant impact. Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, the godfather of the promotion, encouraged young people to follow the example of their elders and to show respect towards those who pass on knowledge to them.
