After having had an exceptional year, dominating, head and shoulders, all her opponents throughout this 2024-2025 season, the Agnosienne placed the icing on the cake, by winning brilliantly at the end of the 3 laps of the Breton circuit.
With her status as favorite, after her 3 victories in the Coupe de France and her title of champion of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the licensee of the Jurançon Cyclisme Compétition club was eagerly awaited. Not easy to manage, as she admitted after the race: “I felt a lot of pressure, but I tried to think about it as little as possible, focusing on my race.”
An attack on the stairs
Starting with her feet on the floor, the young Béarnaise quickly isolated herself in the lead, completing a breathtaking first loop. Before feeling the need to take a breath and see the Breton Lana Le Guilloux come back to her, very comfortable on this rolling circuit. Unaccustomed to encountering so much resistance, Elizalde was a little panicked at first. She recovered well in the last lap, to make a decisive attack on the stairs, reclipping very quickly and applying all the power.
At the finish line, crossed after 29’08” of racing, at an average of 18.23 km/h, the new champion preceded her first pursuer by 11 seconds. The Francilienne Justine Mesnard completed the podium, with a delay of 57”.
Lucie Elizalde was both happy and relieved to have been able to overcome a somewhat difficult section: “It was certainly my most complicated race. I never doubted, even when she came back to me. I did the best I could, I refocused, ignoring all the screams in the audience.”
Mountain biking
The Agnosienne was radiant as she put on the first tricolor jersey of her young career, a tunic that she will unfortunately never be able to wear since the cyclo-cross season is now over and next year she will play in the U19 category.
Now time for two full weeks of recovery, before starting mountain bike training for a season that she hopes will be as fruitful as that of cyclo-cross, with the French Cup events and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine championship on the program. , of which she is the defending champion, before finishing with the French championship.
The Agnosienne has in any case shown in cyclo-cross that she is capable of assuming real responsibilities, as leader of the French team.
