“Senegal must pay a debt of 11,000 billion CFA francs over 5 years”

On the sidelines of the dedication ceremony of the book “Youth takes power” by journalist Mame Birame Wathie, the Director General of the Société des Mines du Senegal, Me Ngagne Demba Touré, revealed Senegal’s public debt.

During his speech, the clerk recalled: “We have started a process of transformation from one system to another, but it is not yet finished. Why has this process not yet been completed? Because to amortize Senegal’s debt, it will be necessary to disburse 2,900 billion CFA francs next year. A country where the interest on the debt is estimated at 931 billion, an amount that the State will have to pay next year. »

Continuing his argument, Me Ngagne Demba Touré asked: “Has this country been put on the path to good management of public finances? » before continuing: “A country where 11,000 billion are needed to pay off the debt in the next five years. »

“What is certain is that we, the Senegalese people, who fought to rid this country of those who were there, and whom we placed in the hands of a regime incapable of embezzling the slightest franc, “It’s up to us to act for this change,” he concluded.
