Drop in temperatures in the , what to expect in the coming days?

Severe frosts are expected, particularly at the start of next week, promising some of the coldest days of the winter.

Weather conditions are taking a winter turn in from this Sunday, January 12 as the department prepares to face a marked drop in temperatures, accompanied by severe frost.

Sunshine, but falling temperatures

From this Sundaythe sun will return, but a powerful wind, notably the mistral and the tramontane, will accentuate the feeling of cold. The feeling promises to be icy, particularly in the Gard Rhodanien, where it will frequently be below 0°C at the best of the day. In Nîmes, temperatures will not exceed 8°C according to Météo , with a feeling close to 0°C due to gusts of up to 80 km/h.

Monday January 13the wind will continue to blow, although less intensely. The sky, for its part, will remain clear with omnipresent sunshine. Temperatures will continue to drop, with minimums close to 1°C in the morning and maximums just reaching 9°C during the day.

The day of Tuesday January 14 promises to be even colder, potentially the coldest since the start of winter. Severe frosts are expected, with temperatures oscillating between – 3°C and – 8°C in the Gard plains, and – 1°C in Nîmes in the early morning. During the day, temperatures will rise slightly to reach 12°C, while the wind will weaken to around 20 km/h.

Later in the week, temperatures are expected to gradually rise before reaching 15°C on Thursday January 16. A mild spell which should accompany the last days of January.
