As part of the Tangier urban development program, the wilaya of Tangier has undertaken the construction of a strategic crossroads, which connects important industrial zones, namely Mghogha and Mechlaoua, and experiences heavy traffic, particularly during peak hours. With a total cost of 18 million dirhams, this project is based on the U-Turn method, a first in Morocco, which aims to improve traffic flow. This technique consists of redirecting vehicles more efficiently by removing certain direct crossings, thus reducing congestion points.
According to a source on site, the completion of this project was closely followed by Younes Tazi, wali of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region and is part of a global dynamic of development and modernization of Tangier’s road infrastructure. . The overall program includes the widening of several main axes, the construction of new roundabouts and the renovation of existing roads, in order to facilitate travel in the city and its surroundings.

After more than two weeks of commissioning, the new section has been widely welcomed by users, both motorists and residents. Traffic flow has improved significantly, road safety indicators are on the rise, and travel times have been reduced, thus facilitating the movement of citizens and workers from neighboring industrial zones. In addition, this infrastructure helps to relieve congestion on the roads adjacent to this new, unique crossroads in Morocco.
