Lat Diop’s big anger from prison: “Never again”

In prison for more than three months for embezzlement of public funds, money laundering and extortion, the former general director of Lonase, Lat Diop, shares room 42 of the Rebeuss remand prison with 12 other inmates. The former Minister of Sports stands out for “ his sense of sharing », according to the testimonies of his fellow detainees taken up by L’Observateur.

Among them, Commissioner Cheikhna Keïta, recently released from prison, reveals that he became extremely angry after his family brought him his first meal in prison.

«The first time they brought him a meal, it was a small modest meal, he got angry and told them: “Never again”. From then on, they brought him large quantities, and everything was systematically shared. He doesn’t keep anything for himself.»

The former head of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (Ocrtis) has no doubt “that there is[it] prisoners who pray today so that [Lat Diop] stay in prison for a long time».
