The city of Tiznit began, on Saturday, the celebration of the Amazigh New Year (Idh Yennayer 2975), to the rhythms of the 3rd edition of the cultural event « Tiflwine » dedicated to the promotion of ancestral Amazigh traditions.
Initiated by the Municipality of Tiznit, in collaboration with the Provincial Council and civil society, this celebration is a continuation of the Royal decision announced by HM King Mohammed VI to establish January 14, corresponding to the first day of the Amazigh year, as an official public holiday in Morocco.
This event, which will continue until the 14th, aims to promote Amazigh heritage and civilization, artistic practices, and creative talents, through various activities which will take over several emblematic places on the route. « Tiflwine »the coordinator of this celebration, Abdellah Ghazi, told MAP.
« Tiflwine »which means doors in French, aims to raise awareness of the tangible and intangible heritage of the city of Tiznit, through activities that draw on the heritage traditions of collective memory, mainly those linked to agricultural activities and crafts, he explained.
Organized under the theme “The land and identity in celebration”this event is also intended to be an annual meeting to highlight the richness of cultural forms and authentic Amazigh arts open to modern and contemporary expressions, continued Mr. Ghazi, noting that this eclectic event attaches great importance to the question of the integration and active involvement of children and young people in the development dynamics experienced by the city of Tiznit.
This year’s edition highlights the knowledge economy and the cultural industry, as pillars for improving the economic and territorial competitiveness of the city of Tiznit, and a factor in strengthening its cultural attractiveness. and heritage, he added.
Referring to the establishment of the Amazigh New Year as an official public holiday in Morocco, Mr. Ghazi considered that the Royal decision announced by HM King Mohammed VI, to establish January 14, corresponding to the first day of the Amazigh year, as a day official holiday in Morocco, reinforces the recognition of Amazigh culture as being an essential component of Moroccan identity.
It also reflects the particular interest granted by the Sovereign in favor of the promotion and influence of Amazigh culture, heritage, language and civilization, welcomed the coordinator of the event. « Tiflwine ».
Thus, the 3rd edition of this event provides a rich and varied program, highlighting the Amazigh culture and its active and influential presence, through the centuries-old history of Moroccan civilization.
It also offers a series of activities highlighting the cultural and artistic richness of the Amazigh tradition in the city of Tiznit, in this case tasting spaces presenting traditional dishes linked to “Iẓ n IYar”, as well as the celebration of “Al-Ma’ruf” which reflects the values of social solidarity.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to witness artistic performances, such as “Ahwash” dances, and collective arts representing different regions.
On the menu for this edition are also spiritual events including Sufi evenings, Koranic readings and praises and panegyrics of the Prophet, as well as reading and calligraphy workshops, in addition to an exhibition of local jewelry which demonstrates the richness of Amazigh traditions. .
The celebration of Idh Yennayer marks the start of the agricultural season among the Amazighs and reflects an attachment to the land to the extent that the event has always been linked to agricultural activity.
It has a strong symbolic significance reflecting the roots and diversity of the Moroccan cultural fabric, as well as the desire to move forward in the effective implementation of the official character of Amazigh.
Furthermore, the proclamation of the Amazigh New Year as an official national public holiday gave a strong impetus to the process of implementing measures aimed at strengthening national Amazigh action, particularly in its cultural dimension.
