: dancing or lunch on a bus, a new growing trend

Thanks to old buses repurposed into nightclubs or restaurants, Parisians can enjoy a little unusual trip through the streets and monuments of the capital.

It is one of the trendy places in the capital. A nightclub popular with Parisian youth, for dancing and singing to your heart’s content. A nightclub that is actually a bus. A disco-bus, which wanders through the streets passing monuments, while its passengers sway to the sounds of a DJ. When cornering, it is better to hold on. The number of customers at these nightclubs on wheels has doubled since Covid. You have to privatize the bus to have the right to dance. Before welcoming partygoers, the company’s buses transported passengers on traditional networks. They had to be emptied and transformed. A mother decided to rent one of these buses for her daughter’s 14th birthday, accompanied by around thirty friends. The price? 1,200 euros for three hours with DJ, cake and soft drinks.

It is therefore possible to dance on a bus like in a nightclub, but also to have lunch like in a restaurant. From 70 euros, you can treat yourself to a menu where four dishes parade, at the same time as the Parisian buildings for two hours. To avoid any breakage of dishes on bends, the manufacturer has thought of everything. For the two waitresses, on the other hand, dexterity and balance are mandatory. While upstairs the thirty customers enjoy the views and the dishes while toasting, downstairs, the chef is busy in his small kitchen, where the smallest space is optimized. “It’s 1m80 maximum for chefs, otherwise it affects”he jokes. Two companies currently share the restaurant bus market in Paris, with reservations increasing every year since Covid.
