Imam Ahmadou Mactar Kanté is not for a return to the party-state as theorized by some Senegalese. Thus, he advises the head of state not to give in to the temptation of this system which has only brought “the arrogance of power”. Returning to this system would lead us to be out of step with the constitutional principle of citizen equality offered by the State and “jub jubal, jubanti”
“Vigilance. » This is what Imam Ahmadou Mactar Kanté calls on the Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye. In a post published yesterday on his Facebook page, the religious guide urges the President of the Republic not to give in to the temptation of the party-state. “We must encourage the President not to give in to the temptation of the party-state,” he declared. According to Imam Kanté, “it seems that some want to bring back, after denouncing it yesterday, this ugly and unjust system which has held our countries back so much.” But, according to Imam Kanté, since his experimentation to this day, this system has brought nothing new, other than “the arrogance of power”. Enough for him to recall in his text that “Senegal is bigger than the parties and parties that compose it and that the President has sworn to be its guarantor”.
According to Imam Kanté, “the problem is not limited to the contestation of the constitutional prerogatives of the President of the Republic. Because other officials, ministers, directors, Pca, etc., can dismiss or recruit on partisan bases.
Thus, for the religious guide, bringing back this principle would be synonymous with “calling into question the constitutional principle of citizen equality offered by the State”. And in doing so, the head of state, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, departs from the “jub, jubal, jubanti” triptych.
“If patriotism rhymes with discrimination based on political affiliation, we are not out of the rut, but we are out of the jub, jubal, jubanti! And if we have the prophet (Saws) as a political mentor, there are postures to avoid and options to favor,” argued the cleric. Before specifying: “Each Senegalese citizen has the right to be in phase with a party or not without this authorizing the public authorities to discriminate against them. In this regard, it is urgent that the President of the Republic be adequately supported in the face of attempts to make him deviate from his constitutional obligations, whoever the authors may be.”
Imam Ahmadou Mactar Kanté therefore suggests to the Pastef party to lead the country with great humility and justice. “The Pastef party must not know, it knows, but assume with humility, justice and efficiency, its status as a party that the Senegalese people have voted for so that it governs in the good, the true, the just and the beautiful in order to May Sunugal arrive safely,” he concluded his remarks, while promising to ensure the smooth running of the country if God gives him the means.
