CLOSURE OF THE SECOND SENEGAL-GAMBIA JOINT PATROL

The second joint patrol of the Senegalese and Gambian armed forces, organized along the border between the two countries, ended successfully in Vélingara, in the Kolda region. Colonel Théodore Adrien Sarr, commander of military zone number 6, underlined the importance of this initiative, which is part of the implementation of the concept of collaborative security.

During these patrols, the forces of the two countries acted together to secure the border localities, by visiting villages and ensuring the tranquility of the populations. Colonel Sarr insisted on the fact that security is a matter not only of the defense forces, but also of the collaboration of local populations.

The outcome of this joint mission was considered very positive, with a feeling of “total satisfaction” at the end of the patrol. In addition, health kits were distributed to populations in border areas, thus strengthening the bonds of solidarity between the two nations.

The military officials of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to continuing this type of initiatives and expressed their wish to expand these joint patrols to all the defense and security forces of the two countries, in order to maintain and strengthen security in the region.
