Night had fallen a short time ago. It was in fact around 6 p.m. when the events occurred on the Oletta plain. Tragic events whose unfolding could have come straight out of the script of a film noir.
A man, aged around fifty, was driving his vehicle when he was targeted by hooded shooters who, according to our information, were two in number. The bullets fatally injured the fifty-year-old.
The ambush took place on a section of the RD 82 near a restaurant.
The shooters then allegedly robbed another motorist to steal his vehicle, set fire to the car in which they had come, and fled towards Bastia.
A Dacia vehicle was found, also in flames, at the Teghime pass. But at this stage, the authorities refuse to make a link with the murder committed in Oletta.
The victim died from his injuries
Once the alert was given, emergency services mobilized a large force to the scene. But despite the emergency care they provided, the firefighters were unable to revive the victim who was in cardio-respiratory arrest. She succumbed to her serious injuries.
The gendarmes, also quickly in the area, deployed a vast security perimeter which was then even widened in order to facilitate the first observations at the crime scene.
Relatives of the victim gathered near the barriers which crossed the road.
Departmental road 82, which connects Oletta to Saint-Florent, was cut on both sides, and traffic interrupted on this portion, with gendarmes blocking access.
Acts committed by an organized gang
Contacted by Corse-Matin, Jean-Philippe Navarre, public prosecutor at the Bastia judicial court, confirmed “the death of a man in his fifties, known to the judicial authorities, as a result of shootings that occurred around 6 p.m. and the opening of an investigation by the leaders, in particular, into intentional homicide by an organized gang, of criminal conspiracy, theft with weapons in an organized gang and destruction by dangerous means in an organized gang.”
This investigation was entrusted, jointly, to the services of the interdepartmental directorate of the national police (DIPN) of Haute-Corse and to an investigation unit of the gendarmerie, namely the Corsica research section.
Dressed in their white overalls, specialists in technical and scientific police spent many hours combing the crime scene, looking for the slightest clue. These observations took place out of sight due to the security perimeter established by the gendarmes.
A witness, for his part, was interviewed by investigators in the gendarmerie premises.
As for the identity of the victim, it is, according to several consistent sources, Camille Orsoni. Judicial authorities have not confirmed this name.
Camille Orsoni, a professional firefighter, was the subject of an assassination attempt in May 2014 in Bastia. An individual was indicted in this procedure before benefiting from a dismissal of the case two years later.
However, at this stage, it is difficult to make a link between these events dating from eleven years ago and those perpetrated in Nebbiu, as the investigation into them has only just begun.
This homicide committed in Oletta is the first to occur in 2025 in Corsica, an island unfortunately accustomed to macabre counts.
