Morocco-Azerbaijan: Military cooperation agreement approved by President Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the law approving the agreement on military cooperation in the field of defense between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco, reports local media this Friday.

This agreement was signed on royal instructions, last October, by Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, and General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, and this on the sidelines of the 7th edition of the International Aeronautics and Space Show “Marrakech Airshow 2024”.

This cooperation agreement concerns in particular the areas of training, training and exercises, the defense industry, technical support and exchange of expertise, military health and cybersecurity.

It should be noted that bilateral relations between Rabat and Baku are experiencing unprecedented dynamics in all areas. In addition to defense, several other cooperation agreements have been signed in recent months in sectors such as energy, logistics and tourism. On this subject, let us recall that the visa exemption agreement was officially in force on Wednesday August 28 between the two countries.

Furthermore, during the government council held Thursday, January 9, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita presented for examination, two cooperation agreements signed with the Republic of Azerbaijan in the fields of logistics and energy. These agreements were signed during the 2nd session of the Morocco-Azerbaijan Joint Commission held in Rabat in November 2023.
