The Italian Press analyzes Ghana’s historic decision to withdraw its recognition of the pseudo “SADR” – Le7tv.ma

Ghana’s recent decision to suspend diplomatic relations with the so-called “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” (SADR) made headlines in Italy, sparking significant interest in several media outlets. The latter highlighted the geopolitical implications of this initiative and its impact on the regional conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.

Italian media Italpress openly welcomed the formalization of this decision, announced by a document from the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs transmitted to its Moroccan counterpart. This document reaffirms Ghana’s support for the efforts made by Morocco, in particular for a lasting political solution acceptable to all parties, within the framework of the Moroccan autonomy initiative.

Italpress also recalls that this decision marks a significant turning point in the position of Ghana, which recognized the fictitious republic in 1979. This readjustment testifies to deep strategic reflection, reinforced by Moroccan diplomacy under the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI.

The New National Newspaper highlighted the broader context in which this decision takes place. Since 2000, 46 countries, including 13 African states, have suspended or severed relations with the so-called “SADR”. This trend illustrates the evolution of mentalities and the central role of Morocco’s proactive diplomacy in the consolidation of new alliances in Africa.

The newspaper also highlights the growing importance of the autonomy project submitted by Morocco in 2007. With the support of more than 115 United Nations member states, including 20 European countries, this initiative stands out as a pragmatic and viable solution for put an end to a conflict that is hampering regional development.

Radiostudio7.net preferred to highlight the economic aspects of this decision, particularly with regard to the strategic Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project. This project, involving 13 African countries, including Ghana, is seen as a lever for economic integration and a guarantee of political stability in West Africa.

The newspaper also noted that the partnership between Morocco and Ghana reflects a common desire to contribute to sustainable economic development, based on ambitious and structuring regional projects.

Finally, the Glistati Generali interpreted this decision as a clear message to other nations, particularly in Europe and Africa. Ghana, through this initiative, highlights the urgency of adopting coherent and responsible positions, favoring regional stability rather than supporting separatist entities which fuel instability.

Ghana’s decision to withdraw its recognition of the “SADR” undeniably strengthens Morocco’s position on the international scene. With growing support for its self-reliance initiative and its participation in strategic projects such as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, the Kingdom is establishing itself as a key player in promoting stability and development in Africa.

This turnaround in Ghana also symbolizes the emergence of a unified African vision, resolutely focused on peaceful solutions and shared prosperity. It is a resounding victory for Moroccan diplomacy, which continues to garner support and chart a more stable future for the African continent.
