For Turkey, should repatriate and judge French jihadists imprisoned in Syria

“If has anything to do, it is to take its own citizens, bring them to its own prisons and judge them,” said the head of Turkish diplomacy Hakan Fidan during a press conference organized in Istanbul.

France should repatriate French jihadists imprisoned in Syria, Turkish diplomatic chief Hakan Fidan said on Friday during a press conference in Istanbul. “If France has anything to do, it is to take its own citizens, bring them to its own prisons and judge them”he said in reference to French jihadists imprisoned in Syria.

For its part, Turkey has no ambitions on Syrian territory, also indicates Hakan Fidan. “Turkey has no aim on the territory of any country nor does it have a hidden agenda”announces the minister in relation to Turkish foreign policy in Syria. The head of diplomacy also affirmed that Turkey has “ability and determination” to eliminate security threats. “Turkey has the power, the capacity and, above all, the determination to eliminate at the source all threats posed to its survival”he announced in reference to the Kurdish fighters in Syria.

Finally, Hakan Fidan said that the United States is Turkey’s only interlocutor regarding the Syrian northeast. “We frankly don’t pay attention to countries that use America’s power and hide behind it to advance their own interests. Our interlocutor on this issue is America. We are talking to America. Not with the countries hiding behind it”he said in response to a question about a possible deployment of French troops in northeast Syria.
