The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) announced on Wednesday that 41 cases of measles have been recorded in certain penitentiary establishments.
In a press release, the DGAPR reports 23 cases at the local prison of Tangier 2, including two officials, 7 at the local prison of Mohammedia, 05 at the local prison Ain Bourja, 02 at the central prison of Kénitra, 02 at the Bourkaiz local prison in Fez and a single case recorded in the local prisons of Tetouan and El Kelaâ des Sraghna.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Delegation calls on the families of prisoners as well as their loved ones authorized to visit them to respect preventive measures in order to limit the risks of spreading this viral disease to residents of penitentiary establishments by avoiding visits. from the appearance of the first symptoms.
“As part of its communication approach and in accordance with the action plan aimed at detecting measles put in place by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to address the risk of spreading this disease, the DGAPR has taken all the necessary preventive and therapeutic measures as provided for in the health protocol drawn up in this regard by the supervisory ministry, as soon as the first symptoms are detected in new arrivals in certain penitentiary establishments”indicates the press release, taken up by the MAP agency.
-Suspected cases were quarantined in order to carry out the necessary laboratory analyses, while providing them with appropriate care following the protocol in force, in coordination with the competent health services, underlines the DGAPR, noting that a vaccination operation volunteer against measles is open to prisoners and staff of penitentiary establishments, under the supervision of medical staff from the said services.
With a view to strengthening monitoring and vigilance, a circular was issued on January 3 to all prison establishments urging them to take the necessary preventive and therapeutic measures as soon as they are detected. possible new cases among detainees, civil servants or visitors and to coordinate, on a permanent basis, with the services of the Ministry of Health.
