Thursday morning, a homeless person was found dead in Valenciennes (North). And in Croix, near Lille (North), a fifty-year-old fell fatally on the public highway, violently hitting his head.
1,200 homes without electricity
The Northern prefecture also recorded twenty injuries: twelve in road accidents and eight in people falling on public roads.
That of Pas-de-Calais counted fifteen injuries: thirteen minor following traffic accidents or falls, and two more serious, with fractures, in a road accident, Wednesday evening, in Marck , near Calais.
The snow also caused incidents on the electricity network. At 6 p.m., 1,200 homes were without electricity, mainly in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, according to Enedis.
The snowy episode will continue
In the afternoon, the disturbance moved towards Germany, giving way to clearings.
But the snowy episode will continue on Friday, with “the arrival of a mass of cold air” during the night from Thursday to Friday, with a risk of refreezing “not negligible”warns Météo-France.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, temperatures should be between -4 and -6°C in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, according to Météo France.
