Vinci Autoroutes announces that traffic is moving forward again. Traffic is once again on the four lanes of the outer ring road. The damaged cars were evacuated. The traffic jams should clear up in the next few minutes.

It was the stop of metro line A that disrupted everything. Thursday January 9, 2025, 4 p.m., metro line A was stopped, partially, then completely.

The reason: “misuse of an escape handle”. Five trains were evacuated and completely stopped. We had to check the tunnel of the entire line. This Thursday evening, the line is still partially stopped between Arènes and Balma-Gramont.

Grand bazaar in city center

The partial shutdown of the line immediately caused a large bazaar in the city center and in the suburban districts. Buses on line 14, crowded, found themselves stuck in traffic jams. This was particularly on the road to , to the north-east of the road. Some users waited more than an hour to board buses. Some preferred to make the Jean-Jaurès -Balma-Gramont journey on foot.

The device is saturated

As a result of the domino effect of the metro breakdown, many Toulouse residents found themselves on the roads this Thursday late in the afternoon. THE road traffic quickly found itself saturated, especially with a major accident which paralyzed part of the Toulouse ring road.

Three vehicles involved

Au north of Toulouseon the outer ring road towards , at kilometer 226, an accident between three vehicles occurred in the early evening. They were across the tracks, as Vinci Autoroutes indicated.

Result: motorists could only travel on just one lane, instead of four usually on this portion of the ring road.

10 km of traffic jams

In total, one 10 km traffic jam paralyzed part of the Pink City. The entire outer ring road was blocked, from Palays to the Toulouse north toll barrier towards Bordeaux. It was necessary 30 minutes to get through the difficulty.

Rescue on site

Around 7 p.m., the vehicles had been evacuated. The patrol officer, for his part, was still working on the three lanes to the left of the ring road, but “he should soon have finished his work”, indicated Vinci Autoroutes.

Traffic finally became smoother at the very end of the day. The end of a beautiful, difficult afternoon in Toulouse.
