Resignation of Justin Trudeau: “Good riddance”, says Luc Poirier

Businessman Luc Poirier welcomes the resignation announced Monday by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, whom he considers to be the worst leader in the country’s history.

The entrepreneur shared a photo of Mr. Trudeau accompanied by a broom emoji on Facebook the day of his announcement.

“That means good riddance,” he said at Sophie Durocher’s microphone on QUB radio on Thursday.

“I think, like a good father, that the budget must be balanced,” he added. It’s incredible what he and his father did.”

Mr. Poirier believes that he was the worst prime minister in Canadian history.

“Yes, 100%,” he said. Look at Canada’s debt before him and now, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Although rumors surrounding his possible candidacy for mayor of Montreal were circulating, the businessman does not wish, for the moment, to be a politician.

It also completely closes the door to the federal government. However, he could one day be tempted by the National Assembly.

“Not from Canada, maybe one day from Quebec,” he said. A journalist called me for the story of Montreal town hall. I told him that if I ran, my slogan would be “save Montreal”. So it came out like that.”

“From there, I had a big wave of love from the citizens of Montreal,” he continues. I was even third after Fady Dagher and Mélanie Joly [dans un sondage]. Both are not running so if I ran, probably I would have a good chance of winning.”

Mr. Poirier, however, prefers to put his family first.

“I have teenagers who are 13 and 15 years old and the priority is really them for the moment. I think it’s not a good deal to go into politics at the moment.”
