More and more tourists in Morocco. Morocco recorded a new record for tourist numbers in 2024 with 17.4 million visitors, up 20% compared to the previous year, said the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism.
“Morocco achieves in advance the ambitious objective of its roadmap, initially planned for 2026,” welcomed the ministry, in a press release relayed by the Moroccan agency MAP this Thursday. The kingdom thus welcomed nearly three million more tourists compared to 2023, according to the same source. The previous record was set in 2023 with 14.5 million admissions.
Is France the world champion in tourism?
Last year, foreign tourists made up 51% of arrivals, up 23% compared to the previous year, while Moroccans living abroad represented the remaining 49% with an increase of 17% in one year, according to the Ministry of Tourism. These statistics are “the result of targeted investments by our government in this vital sector for our country’s economy, as well as the constant mobilization of professionals in the sector”, commented the Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.

Moroccan tourism, which represented 7% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023 and generated around 2 million direct and indirect jobs, benefited in particular in 2024 from the improvement of air connectivity through partnerships with companies airlines such as the low-cost airline Ryanair.
This record attendance comes as the country is actively preparing to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN) at the end of the year, then the World Cup in 2030 which will be organized jointly with Spain and the Portugal.
