The leader of the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced the “forfeiture” against the alliance of the New Popular Front and the “servility” socialist, environmentalist and communist representatives received at the Ministry of the Economy, Wednesday January 8, for a new meeting with the government around the draft budget.
“This way of negotiating behind the back of the NFP and against its program is a total disrespect for our alliance”wrote on X Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the evening. “The traditional little left has nothing to offer and its negotiators are just ridiculously servile”he added.
“No agreement on non-censorship of the PS and EELV will ever concern us”, once again insisted the leader of the rebels, while the government is looking for a way through, particularly on the left, to construct a budget which does not lead to the adoption of a new motion of censure.
The rebels have for the moment refused to participate in the consultations organized by the Minister of the Economy, Eric Lombard, and that of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin, preferring to wait for the general policy declaration of Prime Minister François Bayrou on January 14. For several days they have been criticizing the position of their left-wing allies who accepted the invitation. “If you vote for the budget, you are supporting the government,” argued LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard on Wednesday evening.
