A north-west quarter of France could be affected by snowfall on Wednesday January 8, with precipitation sticking to the ground in places.
Will Normandy regain its white coat for an afternoon? This Wednesday, January 8, certain Normandy localities could actually find themselves partly covered in snow.
A conflict of warm and cold air, accompanied by humidity, is expected for Wednesday, resulting in snow precipitation of around a few centimeters.
“Snowfall is expected in the cold air, between Normandy and Hauts-de-France with a probable layer on the ground,” notes the Keraunos observatory in a post on X.
Towards orange vigilance in the coming hours?
Météo-France also indicates that a layer of snow on the ground of 5 to 10 cm is entirely plausible in these regions, especially from Seine-Maritime to Picardy. Snowfall is particularly expected in Fécamp or even in Neufchâtel-en-Bray.
The weather forecast institute also indicates that “the snow episode should be sufficiently notable” to justify a move to orange alert in the departments concerned. Normandy is currently placed on yellow alert.
“It is therefore advisable to keep informed of the evolution of vigilance over the coming hours,” adds Météo-France.
On the side of the warmer air mass, “on the southern flank of the depression, a few localized storms are not excluded on the Atlantic coast”, notes the observatory.
