He was hit, but his bulletproof vest saved him. The intervention team responded with gunfire. The exchange of fire was fatal to a 30-year-old suspect and injured another 29-year-old. One of the two women (aged 27 and 52) who sheltered the suspects was also injured, reports AD.nl.

Younes is known to Dutch justice. From a young age, he already had a long criminal record. He was involved in violent thefts, including a burglary in Amsterdam in the summer of 2013 and a robbery at a jeweler in The Hague. According to Dutch justice, he would be close to key figures in the criminal organization led by Gwenette Martha, a Dutch criminal specializing in large-scale drug trafficking, executed in 2014. This organization was engaged in a bloody vendetta against a network run by Amsterdammer Salim B., nicknamed “the Snake”, a key player according to the investigative services. With his childhood friend, Anouar G., alias “Soes”, Younes allegedly planned attacks on ATMs and armed robberies to finance the activities of this organization.
The young Amsterdammer was also involved in drug trafficking. Although he had been convicted on several occasions for theft, he had escaped conviction for murder.
