OM offers itself a first victory in 2025 against a small HAC team. Here is Valentin Rongier's note and assessment during this last meeting of the 16th day of Ligue 1.
OM started 2025 strong by dominating Le Havre 5-1 at the Vélodrome. After a difficult start to the match, Marseille took control thanks to Valentin Rongier (25′), Bilal Nadir (39′) et Neal Maupay – The Best Of Neal Maupay (43′) who scored three goals before the break. In the second half, Elye Wahi (66′) added a fourth goal before André Ayew does not reduce the gap for Le Havre (85′). Despite a few chances for Le Havre, OM mastered the match, showing solidity both in defense and attack, and took a three-point lead over Monaco, their pursuer.

His appreciation
Positioned on the left wing throughout the match, the ex-FC Nantes player was invaluable. In the action which led to the opening of the score for Rongier (26), he then gave two assists, first for Bilal Nadir (39) then for Neal Maupay with a header (43). Replaced by Garcia, who scored an opportunistic goal (75th). The piston can play very high on the pitch against a team with a low block and it is in this area that he is best…

Media notes
Note from Provence | 7/10 | In the shoes of a left winger throughout the match, the former Canary curled his mustache. At the origin of the opening score for Rongier (26), he delivered two offerings to his partners. First for Bilal Nadir (39), then in favor of Neal Maupay (43). Replaced by Garcia, opportunistic scorer (75). |
Maxifoot rating | 7.5/10 | In a role as a left piston, the Marseillais confirmed his rise in power. Freed from his defensive tasks thanks to the domination of OM, the ex-Nantes player planned a lot to try to make the difference. And thanks to his efforts, he was the decisive passer twice for the goals of Nadir and Maupay. Replaced in the 72nd minute by Ulisses Garcia (not rated), who scored on his first ball thanks to an offering from Murillo. |
Note from FootMercato | 7.5/10 | Aligned in a left piston role, the former Nantes player took advantage of Marseille's domination to contribute on the offensive level. Very present on the outskirts of the Le Havre area, he constantly offered a shift, like his cross ultimately leading to Rongier's goal. Versatile, he also offered himself in the middle to provide the surplus. Still present on Maupay's goal, he delivered a very good match, punctuated by two assists. |
