The worst was avoided. On January 2, 2025, 22 firefighters from the Essonne department intervened to an apartment fire with an area of ​​60 m², located on the 4th floor of a residence, in Vigneux-sur-Seine.

Two injured in relative emergency

The balance sheet showed 2 victims. An 82-year-old woman, categorized as a relative emergency, was left behind in the care of the family after medical advice. While the second victim, a 52-year-old man also categorized as a relative emergency, was transported to the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges Hospital Center by the firefighters.

The fire was extinguished using two water lances. “A water hose was installed on the aerial ladder to mitigate the disaster from the outside. A second water hose was installed on the 4th floor to extinguish the fire from the inside,” specifies the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of the Essonne department (SDIS 91).

The evacuees were sheltered in a school

« Recognitions were made in the different apartments located on the third and fourth floors. A building risk expert was dispatched to the site to assess the structure,” continues SDIS 91.

During the relief operations, the evacuees were welcomed and sheltered within from a local school opened specially by the municipality.
