A high-tension trial. This Monday, January 6, 2025, the trial of Zaheer Mahmoudaccused of having attacked with a butcher's sheet and seriously injured two people in front of the former Charlie Hebdo editorial offices in September 2020, during the trial of the attacks.

Protection perimeter

The Paris police headquarters having estimated that “the holding of this trial is likely to constitute a privileged and symbolic target for acts of terrorist nature », a security perimeter was set up for the entire duration of the hearing.

Thus, from Monday 6 to Friday 24 January 2025 inclusive, access and movement of people are regulated from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. within the following perimeter on the Île de la Cité:

– boulevard du Palais included on the even side, sidewalk only
– quai des Orfèvres not included, between boulevard du Palais and rue de Harlay
– rue de Harlay not included
– quai de l’Horloge not included, between rue de Harlay and boulevard du Palais

Access to the protection perimeter will only be possible via the filter pointsfollowing security pat-downs and searches of baggage and vehicles:

– at the corner of Boulevard du Palais and Quai des Orfèvres

Inside the said perimeter are prohibited: gatherings “of a protest nature”, the carrying, transport and use of fireworks, articles pyrotechnicsfirearms (including imitations), ammunition as well as objects capable of constituting a weapon or capable of serving as a projectile presenting a danger to the safety of people and property.

People who should, for professional, personal or family reasons, go inside this area are invited to report to the authorities.
