Each quarter, the Departmental Council publishes an information newspaper for the Ardennes. The first issue of this new year will be distributed to all mailboxes starting this Monday, January 6.
In December 2024, departmental elected officials voted on the budget for the year 2025, i.e. €460 million intended to continue the local policies which are implemented every day to serve the people of Ardennes and the region. You will discover, in the form of an infographic, what the Department's money is used for.
Still on the news side, your Journal returns to the inauguration of the second departmental vegetable factory, within the Attigny college. This aims to gradually supply the colleges of the South Ardennes with fresh and tasty fruits and vegetables.
The file in this new issue is devoted to an essential competence of the Departmental Council: child protection. While the number of minors and young adults followed by a measure of Social Assistance for Children is constantly increasing, the Department has increased the reception capacity within the Departmental Children's Home, while new units have emerged, such as Chloris, dedicated to the emergency reception of children aged 3 to 6 years.
On the cultural side, you will discover the portrait of a library volunteer based in Messincourt, who shares her time and passions with all generations. It is also an opportunity for the Ardennes Departmental Library (BDA) to launch a campaign to attract new recruits.
You will also find in this edition, an overview of the areas of intervention of the Departmental Council in all 19 cantons of the territory. Support for local actors and the associative world, support for municipalities and intercommunities, development of public spaces… the CD08 is at your side to inform you about the news that concerns you.
Finally, don't miss the reopening of the War and Peace Museum, located in Novion-Porcien, on January 22, and note in your diary the exceptional exhibition offered by the Departmental Archives in partnership in particular with the Princely Archives of Monaco, dedicated to the “Counts of Rethel, Dukes of Mazarin, Princes of Monaco”. It will be visible at the Musée de l'Ardenne, in Charleville-Mézières, from March 7 to June 8, 2025.
Happy New Year and happy reading!
