students deprived of returning to school due to lack of plane

Around fifteen young people attending school on the coast were unable to take the plane to Maripasoula. The We de ya collective regrets the flight cancellations and the lack of support for young passengers waiting.

At the start of the Christmas holidays, many Guyane Fly passengers complained about the lack of space on the planes. A situation which had particularly complicated the return to families for young people attending school on the coast. After two weeks of vacation: same problem and same consequences, this time in reverse.

Around fifteen young people are currently stranded in Maripasoula due to lack of planes. These facts are denounced by the citizen collective We de ya. According to the association, Guyane Fly flights are canceled both from and Maripasoula.
“Since the Christmas school holidays, there have been a lot of flight cancellations from Cayenne. The children were not taken care of or informed of the situation, deplores Daniel Bernardin, president of the We de ya collective. There, it's the same problem for the return to the coast: there are lists which are not complete. There are students who are not on the flight lists.”

The president of the collective regrets the lack of support for young people who come from the law. “Some live in Papaïchton and come to Maripasoula. Sometimes they wait all day because we ask to be there an hour and a half early for check-in. When the plane is canceled, the students are not supported. They must return home. For Papaïchton, it is an hour's journey, or thirty euros one way. We are asking the CTG and Guyane Fly to find a solution so that students can return to school as quickly as possible. There are some who were supposed to start internships. Today they will be absent. »
