Tivaouane, January 6 (APS) – The board of directors of the Chemical Industries of Senegal (ICS) appointed Mama Sougoufara on December 30 as general director of the said extractive company, replacing Alassane Diallo, we learned. Company APS.
The new director general of ICS took office on January 1, 2025, specifies the same source.
Mama Sougoufara replaced her compatriot, Alassane Diallo, who served as Director General of ICS from 2005 to 2024.
This appointment of the board of directors was approved by the State of Senegal, which holds 15% of the capital of the company, in which the Indorama group has a majority, since its takeover in 2014.
Mr. Sougoufara, who was previously Deputy Director General of ICS, is credited with “extensive experience and (an) in-depth knowledge” of the sector, where he has accumulated several years of experience.
An engineer in industrial process engineering from INSA Toulouse, Mama Sougoufara also holds a Master’s degree in urban management and infrastructure from the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (Essec Business School, Paris) and a Master’s degree in urban planning.
He began his career within the Veolia Group, in the water, sanitation and waste management sector.
From 2000 to 2008, he was a consultant and associate director within the Arthur Andersen and BearingPoint firms, in Paris for the Industries and Technologies sectors.
Before returning to Senegal in June 2024, Mama Sougoufara worked for 16 years at the Alstom group, which he joined in 2008.
Sougoufara has held various management positions at Alstom. He passed through the engineering and rolling stock departments, and served at several global locations, such as La Rochelle and Reichshoffen in France, Savigliano in Italy, Lapa in Brazil and TrTrans JV in Russia.
Between 2018 and 2020, Mama Sougoufara was Vice President, in charge of Turnkey and Infrastructure for Alstom Africa, Middle East and Central Asia (AMECA).
Mr. Sougoufara also served as Alstom’s Managing Director for the MENAT region (Middle East, North Africa, Central Africa and Turkey).
He played an important role in the execution and delivery of numerous transport projects in the Middle East, such as the Doha Tram, Dubai Expolink Metro and Riyadh Metro, reports the same source.
