This Monday, January 6, this Rochelais is standing in the dock of the La Rochelle judicial court. He is accused of having cut his electronic bracelet and having escaped from his residence two days earlier, on the evening of Saturday January 4, in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains.
At that time, around 10:30 p.m., the man, aged 25, was in his house with his mother and stepfather. According to the president of the court, tension rose between the two men after a “family dispute” and the defendant decided to leave the home “in order to avoid hitting his father-in-law”, according to his lawyer.
With a 10-kilo backpack on his back, the man leaves to visit his ex-brother-in-law and his sister. But unsurprisingly, the bracelet's alarm sounds and the police manage to arrest him and place him in police custody after using an electric pulse gun. “I did not intend to fight, I wanted to see if my sister and my great-niece were there,” underlines the defendant on the stand.
His ten mentions on his record probably didn't help him. He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for the damage to the bracelet and the same sentence for the escape. He must also pay the sum of 105 euros for material damage.
