Burglary of the Baumel armory in Marguerittes in Gard: the investigation entrusted to the JIRS of Lyon

This Monday, January 6, the Nîmes public prosecutor's office, which had opened a flagrant investigation into the burglary of the Baumel armory in Marguerittes, has just confirmed that it has been removed from the case. It is the specialized inter-regional jurisdiction (JIRS) in the fight against organized crime and delinquency in Lyon which takes over.

Several individuals were reportedly arrested

During the night of January 1 to 2, 2025, around ten weapons and ammunition were stolen from the company. According to our colleagues from France 3 regions, Saturday January 4, “several individuals were arrested. It appears to be a gang from Lyon”they specify. Information not confirmed by the Nîmes public prosecutor's office.

The investigation which was carried out by the Nîmes Research Section, under the direction of the Nîmes public prosecutor's office, focused on the counts of theft in an organized gang, possession and transport in a group of category B weapons, and participation in an association criminals with a view to committing a crime.
