After three years of legal battle, Air France was ordered to reimburse a traveler whose flight had been canceled in January 2022. The complainant had been informed on the day of departure.
The legal battle was long but bore fruit. Three years after the cancellation of his flight, a man living in Ardèche finally managed to get a refund from Air France. The airline was ordered in December by the Marseille court to pay it 1,800 euros in total, reports Ici Drôme Ardèche.
The facts date back to January 2022. The traveler was supposed to go to Madagascar but learned at the last minute that his flight was canceled. He had paid 1,200 euros for his plane ticket. Air France did not offer him any flights the next day and made no reimbursement.
UFC-Que Choisir helps the complainant obtain a refund
The complainant, living in Ardèche, called on the departmental branch of UFC-Que Choisir to support him in this procedure. In the event of cancellation, an airline must notify travelers
“within 14 or 15 days before, and above all provide proof of this information”
explains to local radio Wissamm Bayeh, lawyer and vice-president of the consumer association.
“Air France had to reimburse the ticket. Plus 600 euros »
adds the lawyer.
This is the amount that Air France will have to pay to Ardéchois. A victory which proves that you should not give up in this type of situation, even against large companies.
