Manga exhibition at the Guimet Museum

The Guimet museum is devoting a masterful exhibition to manga, this visual and narrative art that has become one of the cultural pillars of Japan and a global phenomenon. From the origins of manga – from political caricature and street theater – to the emergence of emblematic figures, his Californian period, Hockney has never stopped reinventing himself.

Paintings, drawings, digital creations: the painter explores each medium with insatiable curiosity, without ever losing sight of his quest for the absolute. more than 300 works – original plates, animated films, old prints and rare objects – will illustrate how manga has been able to reinvent forms from traditional Japanese culture while anchoring itself in modern issues.
