The great year of the Pagnol cinema in Sainte-Maxime, here are the tops and flops of the films

Like all cinemas in , the Pagnol in Sainte-Maxime had a very good year. Meeting with its director, Emmanuel Chanteur, to take stock of 2024. The latter reveals the figures, the tops, the flops (read below)as well as the big releases scheduled for the first half of 2025 and the next upcoming events.

+ 4% for entries

The Maxim establishment recorded 123,000 admissions this year, compared to 118,000 in 2023. An increase of 4% (the increase is 1% at the national level). However, we are still far from the figures for 2017, 2018 and 2019, with an average of 146,000 entries.

It should be remembered that the figures emerging from Covid-19 were 61,000 in 2021 and 103,000 in 2022.

“The first half of 2024 was rather calm, but Artus’ film, A little something extrareleased on May 1, boosted entries for the rest of the year.” specifies the director of Pagnol.

What’s new: the Télérama Festival

The weekly film festival Telerama celebrates its 27th this yeare edition. Le Pagnol has, for the first time, decided to join this national event which will take place from January 22 to 28.

“This week will allow us to (re)discover a selection of the best arthouse films of the year 2024, such as Emilia Perez [de Jacques Audiard, 1,1 million d’entrées, Prix du jury et prix collectif d’interprétation au dernier Festival de ] or Seeds of the wild fig tree [de Mohammad Rasoulof, 570.000 entrées, Prix spécial du jury à Cannes]. There will also be three previews”, indicates Emmanuel Chanteur.

On display in 2025

Regarding the first half of 2025, several films are highly anticipated. Will they attract spectators? That’s always the big question.

On the program in particular: the biopic on Bob Dylan, A complete stranger, by James Mangold with Timothée Chalamet in the title role and Edward Norton (released January 29), God save the Tuche (fifth episode of the comic saga with Jean-Paul Rouve, also behind the camera, and Isabelle Nanty, February 5), Bridget Jones, much the lazy, by Michael Morris (still with Renee Zellweger, February 12), Mickey 17 (March 5, highly anticipated science fiction film by Bong Joon Ho with Robert Pattinson and Naomi Ackie), Mission impossible 8, The Final Reckoning de Christopher McQuarrie (the continuation of the adventures of Tom Cruise, May 21) and Dragons by Dean DeBlois in live-action version, combination of animated characters with real actors, including Gerard Butler (released June 11).

The resumption of “Regards sur le monde” is scheduled for next week, Thursday January 9 at 2:30 p.m., with Nepal-Mustang as the destination. Then it will be a trip to Macau on January 30 at the same time.
