Horror in Belgium. A man was arrested at the end of December 2024 after a series of rapes in a home for people with mental disabilities.

Serial rapes in a home for disabled people in Belgium

The 47-year-old man, working as a psychologist, was taken into custody. The series of rapes took place in a reception center in Anderlues, in the south of the country, we learned from a judicial source on Thursday.

He is accused of “more than ten” rapes and sexual assaults committed between July 2022 and October 2024 againstadults welcomed in this center, Sandrine Vairon, from the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office, told AFP.

The suspect, who denies the facts, is also charged with forgery. He is suspected of having produced a false psychologist diploma to get hired at this day center, the same source said.

The man was incarcerated at the beginning of December after the complaint of one of his victims, and his detention was confirmed at the end of 2024 by the Belgian justice system, said this magistrate.

Remember that many people with disabilities from the North use Belgian infrastructures due to the lack of places in the department’s specialized structures.
