“The Christmas of the forgotten”, to remember to share

Among the ingredients that were served on the tables during the Christmas of the Forgotten on Friday evening, joy and love were at the top of the list. The organization Par nous, pour nous in Sherbrooke was not going to leave the most vulnerable people alone for the holidays.

In its third version, the event brought together some 150 participants gathered at Saint-Patrick’s Church on King Street West to enjoy a traditional Christmas meal. On the menu, a hot meal, gifts and music, for an evening of celebration unforgettable.

Yes, there are organizations and structures that help us financially and otherwise, but it comes from citizens in precarious situations who have cooked all afternoon and who serve food to other people in precarious situations. It’s an exchange, it’s a sharingunderlines one of the organizers of the event, Nadia Fortin.

People can share a moment together, share discussions and share a meal.

The event brings together people in situations of isolation, homelessness and precariousness. Denis Lessard, who has been involved with the organization Par nous, pour nous for several years, is experiencing homelessness. He explains that while it was once by choice, it is no longer so, but that it remains important for him to give back.
