The La Rando Montcuquoise association, chaired by Jocelyne Jorda, brings together 58 members and demonstrates great dynamism. The weekly outings, every Tuesday, are full of walkers, as are the day hikes. Long stays are popular with the members of the association, especially those which take place abroad, such as Tyrol or Catalonia where the walking club recently visited.
It’s been ten years since the Rando Montcuquoise was founded. Since then it has grown, developed and multiplied the activities, events, and partnerships with municipal initiatives or those of other associations.
The latest novelty, recorded during the general assembly on November 7, aroused the enthusiasm of the members: the establishment of a Nordic walking section reserved until now for fourteen members of the club who were introduced to the good gestures for this practice. Isabelle Demougeot and Antoine Rony, two members, followed training before becoming certified Nordic walking leaders. They are the ones who supervise all the sessions which take place every Monday afternoon, in the Montcuq area.
A complete sporting activity
The association has now decided to open the Nordic walking section to people outside the club. “Nordic walking, much more than a simple walk, is a complete sporting activity that uses the entire body,” explains Antoine. Using specific poles, it combines walking with the swinging movement of the arms, thus providing an effective cardiovascular and muscular workout. The benefits of this practice are numerous and are aimed at a wide audience. This gentle but stimulating physical activity is suitable for all levels and ages. »
Each session begins with a warm-up which constitutes a muscular awakening. Then, an 8 to 10 km walk is carried out, possibly punctuated by muscle strengthening exercises to improve your physical condition. Finally, the session ends with stretching exercises, to promote flexibility and prevent possible injuries.
