Lionel Chauvin: “it’s a collective reward and a tremendous motivation for these young people”.
The Puy-de-Dôme Departmental Council for Youth in Child Protection (CDJPE) was awarded the Participation Prize on Friday, November 22 in the Senate.
These young people carry the voice of the children entrusted to child welfare in the department, the Departmental Council supports them in their journey as young citizens and is proud of the recognition, through this trophy, of their work and their contributions. to child protection policy. It is also the recognition of an initiative that is still rare in France: that of the creation of this body for expression and proposals for children entrusted to the departmental child welfare service of Puy-de-Dôme.
This consultative assembly brings together around thirty young people aged 8 to 21, representative in terms of ages, sexes and placement methods (establishments, host families, etc.). As part of their workshop work, the members of the CDJPE meet around work themes that they have chosen. This helps to involve children in the policies that are implemented for them and to share their experience, while allowing them to follow a path as committed young citizens.
For Lionel Chauvin, “it is a collective reward and a tremendous motivation for these young people whom we encourage, whom we even recently took to the Senate, and who have a lot to share in sharing experience on the policies that concern them. We are committed to retaining the recommendations they make to continually improve child welfare in the department.”
