This is the end of a suspense that lasted several weeks. While the Bastia club was in full turmoil in the championship, far from being saved in Ligue 2, the leaders were keen to take a completely new sporting direction and give the keys to the sport to the former Bastia coach.
INTERVIEW. Frédéric Antonetti: “I always had this project for Sporting in mind”
For weeks, months, his name kept coming up, whether around the cafes of the Place Saint-Nicolas, but also behind the scenes, because the arrival of Fred Antonetti was carefully considered by the Bastia management, who clearly felt that they had reached the end of their sporting abilities. It was therefore time to take reinforcement at this level.
Young players with great potential
Since 2017, it must be admitted that this is one of the most often discussed themes. An old sea serpent. Many times, the question of recruiting a sporting or technical director had been asked to the management of the club, who did not see the usefulness, or the necessity, before this 2023-2024 season definitely very tortuous. In the columns of Corse-Matin, months ago, the coach Régis Brouard announced the end of a cycle at SCB. The coach was not mistaken and it was therefore time to move on.
The return of Fred Antonetti therefore marks the start of a whole new story, a new chapter for the club which has been reborn from its ashes since 2017. Faced with the current difficulties of modern Football, still so dependent on money (perhaps too much ), the new technical director will therefore put in place a post-training policy, as he will explain during a press conference at the start of the season.
“We do not have the means to attract experienced players aged 25, 26. They are much too expensive. We are therefore going to recruit young players with high potential, who will be able to develop during the season. Young people bring talent enthusiasm, they bring speed, we want lively football which will compensate for the lack of experience. We also have a backbone of experienced players who will be there to supervise them, like. Christopher Vincent or Johny Placide.”
What followed during the summer was a flurry of transfers with 11 departures and 13 arrivals (including 11 players under the age of 23). Among them, the recruitment of Boutrah (24 ans), Tramoni (21 ans), Rodrigues (24 ans), Cisse (21 ans), Guevara (23 ans), Etoga (21 ans), Soumahoro (19 years old) or Oulaï (18 years old). Young people whose potential is not to be proven, but rather to be confirmed.

At least! Because there were many of them who pushed through the doors of the Cosec Pepito-Ferretti in Bastia to attend the very first MMA Gala in the history of Corsica. An unprecedented event, which appealed to island spectators, eager to see with their own eyes this discipline which has continued to develop since 2020.
The sentence
“For us, it is a beneficial decision, which will mark a point of balance in the two departments, while working in peace, especially for our young people. For two years, we have increased the number of licensees“, Jean-François Gandon, president of the Haute-Corse Karate committee on the subject of the dissolution of the League.

02/03. The Agglo ends under police escort
Match stopped, racist insults, spitting, police escort… Bastia Agglo Futsal fell into a real ambush on the floor of Lille-métropole. The demonstration once again of the deleterious climate which weighs on the discipline. As soon as the warm-up ended, around ten young people in the stand began to insult the Bastiais. Faced with numerous interruptions to the match, it was decided by the referee to evacuate the stand while the president of Bastia Agglo, Antoine Grazianidecides for security reasons not to have his players resume the game. The club will eventually be escorted by police to the highway. The Lille club will only receive a call to order, despite a report from the delegate mentioning spitting and insults…

10/03. The Corsican Karate League is dissolved
End of a series which lasted several years and which tarnished the image of the discipline on the island. For the occasion, the president of the French Karate Federation traveled to Court, place where the vast majority of island clubs gathered to vote for the dissolution of the League, which had been nothing more than an empty shell for months. A beneficial decision for the two Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud committees, which have since relaunched numerous activities. The end of a stormy and painful chapter and the beginning of a new one, which hopefully for the licensees, goes better.

03/21. The GFCA qualified for the semi-finals of the play-offs
Three matches are more than enough for the Gaziers who thus qualified for the semi-finals of the League B play-offs. And what a match from the Ajaccians. A magnificent fight from start to finish and a victory away, on the floor of Martigues. The GFCA begins to dream of returning to the First Division but on its way stands Cambrai (3rd in the regular season, just behind the Corsicans). Here again, the Ajaccians will not miss their meeting.

24/03. AS Furiani-Agliani loses first place
Leader for several days, the ASFA had then displayed its ambition to move up to National thanks to an excellent season, but tired by the succession of matches, the island players will give ground to their opponents, until leaving this first place which suited them so well. Faced with Haguenau, despite their domination, the Furianinchi will be unable to find the fault and by continuing a fourth match without a victory, sees the National championship slip away definitively.
MMA
30/03. A historic gala
What fury in the Cosec cage Pepito-Ferretti packed for the very first MMA gala in the history of Corsica. More than 1,000 spectators crowded into the sports arena to admire the spectacle. And the modern-day gladiators did not disappoint the crowd. With twelve fights on the program, the KTP MMA Scola, organizer of the event and pioneer of the practice of MMA in Corsica, has put a fantastic spotlight on this discipline which has been booming since 2020. For the occasion, Lionel Brézéphin, technical director of the FMMAF, made the trip, as did many fighters from the Atch Academy, a Parisian club that was a pioneer of MMA in France and a driving force behind the practice on the continent. A historic evening from every point of view.
