Journalist Samba Mangane signs his second book, “Senegal: Rupture at the top”an ambitious and rich publication of 190 pages. This book is not limited to an analysis of the current Senegalese government. According to the author, it also constitutes a real collection of biographies retracing the journeys of members of the Senegalese governments, from 1957 to 2023.
Through a meticulous and documented approach, Mangane explores the individual trajectories of the political actors who have marked the history of Senegal, while highlighting the transformations and ruptures at the top of the State. The work offers a double perspective : a contemporary reading of the challenges facing the current government, and a historical retrospective on more than six decades of governance.
By combining biography, political analysis and testimonies, the author aims to provide a essential resource for researchers, students and citizens curious to better understand the dynamics of power in Senegal. Samba Mangane also sheds light on the tensions, developments and continuities that have shaped Senegalese institutions from the colonial era to the present day.
“Senegal: Rupture at the top” is thus intended to be both a work of memory and an invitation to reflect on the challenges of governance, at a time when the country is facing profound political, social and economic changes.
